opening september 2021
Windrush Church of England Primary School will be part of River Learning Trust (RLT), one of the region’s most respected multi-academy trusts. As a Church of England (CofE) school, it will also be supported by the Oxford Diocesan Board of Education (ODBE).
Windrush will welcome families of all faiths and none. It will seek to spark a lifelong love of learning in pupils and provide them with the fundamentals to flourish.
The school will serve the new Witney communities of Windrush Place and Colwell Green. When full, it will have capacity for 315 pupils aged four to 11, plus 39 places in nursery for children aged two to four.
Windrush will serve the Windrush Place and Colwell Green estates in west Witney. You might hear these referred to locally as the Downs Road developments.
The school will admit up to 30 pupils into reception in the first year. It is planned that the school will eventually take 45 a year and have total capacity for 315.
The school day will run from 8.30am to 3pm. A charged childcare service for pupils will be available from 7.45am and up until 6pm.
We are planning for a total of 39 nursery places to be available at Windrush. Nursery will run from 8.20am to 3.05pm in half-day blocks.
Apply for a place after the deadline
The deadline for applications for reception year places at primary schools this September passed on January 15th. People can still apply for places, but their applications will be considered after on-time applications.
If you have moved into catchment from outside the area and do not have a place at a local primary school, then you should apply to the county council for a place at an existing school, as well as applying directly to us. You can find out more about applying by clicking the link below.
If you are new to the area and have yet to apply to the county council for a primary school place, then you might consider putting down one or all of the three River Learning Trust schools in the town. They are featured in the videos below.
