Geography
At Windrush Primary School, we want to instil in all pupils a sense of awe, wonder and excitement at the world around them through our teaching of Geography. Geography helps promote a sense of global citizenship in our pupils, because they learn not only where places are and what they are like, but about the people who live there and what life is like for them. Pupils learn how the world around them has been formed and build on their own experiences to take their knowledge from the very personal to the global.
This links closely with our Personal Development Curriculum to encourage children to become well rounded human beings who understand their role, not only in their community, but in the wider world around them.
Geographical enquiry and teaching of Geography at Windrush helps pupils understand the complicated, changing world around them and how natural and human elements have contributed to it, and how they will continue to do so in the future. Teachers are enthusiastic about learning outdoors and using the school grounds and local area to practice their fieldwork skills.
